How to select the refractories for cement rotary kiln?
Selection and quality of refractory bricks impact on the life span of cement rotary kiln linings, which can directly influence maintenance costs and production. It follows that refractory bricks are very important for cement rotary kiln.
It is often based on desired temperature and heat load of each zone when selecting refractories for cement rotary kiln, and the coefficient of heat expansibility is closer between kiln and kiln linings which should be pay attention to.
How to select the refractories for cement rotary kiln?
1. High temperature resistance
Temperature in the kiln is more than 1000℃, which requires refractory bricks would not be able to melted at high temperature, and maintain enough strength under the melting point.
In addition, refractory bricks for cement rotary kiln should have the other characteristics, for example, refractory bricks which are exposed to a high temperature for toolong a time still present fixed volume.
2. Good thermal shock resistance
What temperature in rotary kiln have relatively large changes demands that kiln linings cannot occur cracks and spalling.
3. Anti-chemical erosion
Kiln linings can be eroded by ash content, molten slags, and steam, that forming from sintering.
4. Excellent wear resistance& high mechanical strength
Both the slip of the materials in rotary kiln and friction of dust in air flow increase the wear on the kiln linings, especially in the early opening kiln without kiln coating protection.
In the meantime, kiln linings suffer from swelling stress caused by high temperature and stress results from ovalization deformation of rotary kiln shell. So surely, kiln linings should have the property of high mechanical strength.
5. Good stickability to kiln coating
Kiln coating which is used as a protective layer has protective effect on kiln refractory linings. If kiln linings have good stickability to kiln coating while kiln coating can maintain quite a long time can protect kiln linings from erosion and wear.
6. Low porosity
Corrosive kiln gas will percolate percolate into the linings and be condensed, particularly alkaline polluting gas, thereby linings will be damaged if porosity is high.
7. Low coefficient of thermal expansion
The temperature of rotary kiln shell is generally in the 280~450 ℃, the temperature of kiln linings is more than 800℃, of which temperature is above 1300℃ in sintering zone.
So, thermal expension of kiln linings is higher than kiln shell, in order that kiln linings are easy to occur spalling caused by compressive strain-stress.
